Artist Series: Seb McKinnon

Secret Lair's first-ever Artist Series drop, released in November 2020, handed artist Seb McKinnon full creative control over four cards, including his self-described favorite basic land to illustrate: the Swamp. McKinnon built a single continuous story across the cycle — a knight-errant's chance encounter with a Fae Folk who lures him deeper into her realm — drawing on Celtic mythology's uneasy relationship with marshes and bogs. His brother, Liam McKinnon, wrote the accompanying flavor text as a poem.
