The Astrology Lands

The Astrology Lands unfolded gradually across all of 2022, with artist Jeanne D'Angelo releasing one zodiac-themed basic land per month in collaboration with astrologer Maya Brooks, who helped map each sign to its corresponding land type. D'Angelo discussed her process publicly sign by sign — for Aquarius, an air sign, she leaned into a psychedelic 1970s sky; for the black-associated Swamp signs, she often swapped in royal blue rather than pure black, giving the traditionally darkest basic land an unusually ethereal glow.
