Released in January 2025 as part of Secret Lair's experimental Chaos Vault line, The Strange Sands paired artist Scott Balmer's surreal, dreamlike basic land art with an unusual sales format — each land sold separately in stacks of ten rather than as a matched cycle. The drop settled an internal debate at Secret Lair over whether basics sell better split by type or bundled together, letting fans buy multiples of just the land they wanted.
