Unsanctioned

Unsanctioned, released in February 2020, isn't tied to a particular plane the way most Un-sets are. Its designers describe it as having "a wrestling match kind of flavor," built around five preconstructed mono-colored decks meant to be combined two at a time and set against an opponent's pairing. It's the only Un-set sold as ready-to-play decks rather than random boosters, mixing reprints from Unglued, Unhinged, and Unstable with sixteen new cards. Its full-art basics, illustrated by Adam Paquette, come in both foil and nonfoil versions, a first for the format. The set's non-full-art basics carry their own small joke: each one hides a squirrel somewhere in the art. Five decks, five colors, one running gag.
